On June 10, the lush green trees in Qiaomu Village, located in Dabao Township, Changning, provided delightful shade that covered the hills. The village has more than 4,000 mu (267 ha.) of mountainous land, basically purple shale with shallow and arid soil, which was once barren hills. In recent years, the Changning working group stationed in the village and the village committee have led villagers to vigorously implement ecological management and restoration of barren hills. They planted saplings, Chinese herbs, and flowers in the hills, to help turn the former wasteland into greenbelt. (Photo/Liu Donghua)
