Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, visited the First Primary School of Kaifu District, Changsha Special Education School, and Hunan Children's Hospital in Changsha on the afternoon of May 31, ahead of the International Children's Day. At the same time, he extended festival greetings to all of the children across the province.

Provincial leaders Wu Guiying, Wang Yiguang, and Zhou Haibing, attended.

On May 31, Secretary Shen participated in the "June 1" International Children's Day themed celebration of the Young Pioneers at the First Primary School of Kaifu District, Changsha City.

He noted that children are the future of the country and the hope of the nation and called for studying and implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks on the work for children. He asked to further strengthen the sense of responsibility and mission to do well in children's work in the new era; carry out the basic task of fostering virtue through education; better run the schools with characteristics; constantly improve teaching quality; promote high-quality and balanced development of compulsory education; and, nurture more children to become the pillars of society.

On May 31, Secretary Shen came to the Wangcheng Campus of Changsha Special Education School, to learn about students' rehabilitation training and medical-educational integration.

He emphasized the importance of special education being based on the law of physical and mental development and the actual needs of students with disabilities. He also emphasized the need for teaching according to their aptitude and carrying out scientific entrance assessment. Efforts should be made to promote deep integration and close cooperation between medical science and teaching, and strive to help every student with disabilities have the opportunity to fulfill their potential.

On May 31, Secretary Shen learned about children's medical care, health care services, health management, and public charity at the Hunan Children's Hospital. He chatted cordially with the medical and nursing staff.

He pointed out that it is necessary to give full play to the strengths of the medical specialties; improve the level of treatment; train a group of high level pediatric medical staff; and, effectively protect the healthy growth of children and adolescents in the province with high-quality and efficient medical services.
