On the evening of August 21, the finals of mass cultural activities evaluation, a part of the 8th Hunan Arts Festival, kicked off at the Grand Theatre of Hengyang Culture and Arts Center. Thirteen dance performances from Yongzhou, Huaihua, Xiangxi, and other cities were staged, showing the results of local mass cultural development.

The mass cultural activities of the festival are divided into three categories; namely, the mass cultural stars and programs awards evaluation, the works evaluation, and the excellent mass cultural works touring performance. Among them, 126 works across the province were selected as finalists for the works evaluation.

They were created around such themes as major time nodes, significant development strategies, revolutionary culture, traditional culture, and Hunan culture. The works encompassed various categories, including music, dance, drama, quyi, children's programs, choral performances, and square dancing, showing the achievements of Hunan's cultural endeavors in the new era. According to the program categories, the finals will be held in 10 sessions at the Hengyang Culture and Art Center, the Qunxing Theater of Hengyang City Culture Center, and other venues.

The finals will last until August 31. During the period, four touring performances of outstanding mass cultural activities will also be held.

The event is organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the CPC Hengyang Municipal Committee, and the People's Government of Hengyang City, and undertaken by the Hunan Cultural Center and the Hengyang Culture, Tourism, Radio, Television, and Sports Bureau.
