Secretary Shen, on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, welcomed the guests and briefed them on the economic and social development of Hunan. He noted that Hunan boasts a solid industrial foundation, rich scientific and educational resources, and prosperous cultural industry. It is the birthplace of China's hybrid rice and has made sustained efforts to build the "Three Hubs". Hunan is willing to share the dividends of reform and opening up with African countries such as Kenya, on the basis of mutual benefit. He expected to take the events of CAETE in Africa as an opportunity to unveil a new chapter of economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges between Hunan and Kenya.
Ambassador Willy Bett introduced the general conditions of Kenya. He remarked that China and Kenya has shared long lasting friendship and enjoyed the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. Kenya has a favorable geographical location and sound business environment. The Kenyan government has put forward development plans on health, housing, food security, and digitalization, which are highly complementary with Hunan's industrial development. He hoped the events of CAETE in Africa can attract more Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in Kenya.
