The International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 Chengdu opened on April 26. A Changsha garden debuted at the expo. The garden comprises a welcome area, a waterfront viewing area, a sky-themed main scenic area, a sightseeing and rest area, a flower border plants area, and a 3D forest planting area, vividly displaying the beauty of Changsha's landscape, culture, and ecology.

Changsha is the only city in Hunan that was invited to the expo. The 1,500-sqm Changsha garden is the expo's only creative exhibition park adopting modern garden architecture techniques. Designed around the theme of "ecological and livable Changsha", the garden integrates landscapes and spaces to create ecological flower borders and 3D forests. Thirty-five varieties of flowers and trees with local characteristics and 65 species of featured plants are grown here, constituting a diverse and interwoven floral and horticultural scene.

A 'Changsha Theme Day' event will take place on a lawn at the main pavilion of the expo on May 18, with the theme of "Changsha, a Beautiful City Blessed with Mountains, Rivers, and Isles". Performances, interactive experience activities, and intangible cultural heritage displays will be held to present the city's achievements in ecological civilization construction. In addition, a Changsha city walk route highlighting the flower and seedling industry will be released.

Under the theme of "park city, beautiful habitat", the expo adopts a mode of "1 main venue +4 sub-venues" for the first time. The main venue is located in the Chengdu Eastern New Area, with 7 theme exhibition areas and 112 theme gardens. A total of 31 countries and organizations and 29 domestic cities participated.
