Cross-border tourism surged during the just-concluded May Day holiday, as a result of multiple factors such as continuous optimization of entry policies, robust demand for vacation travels, and increased international flight capacity.
According to the latest data released by the Hunan General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection, a total of 19,000 inbound and outbound travelers crossed borders from May 1 to 4, with foreign travelers accounting for 60% of the total.
Zhangjiajie's unique natural landscapes are sought-after by tourists from around the world. With continuously increased resumption of air routes and frequency of international flights, a growing number of foreign travelers chose to enter China through Zhangjiajie Port during holidays, exploring the awe-inspiring scenery of towering peaks, bizarre rocks, deep canyons, and breathtaking gorges there.
During this holiday, 70% of the foreign travelers entered China through Zhangjiajie port directly, while more than 80% foreigners through Changsha port paid visits to Zhangjiajie.
In an overall perspective, Hunan's inbound tourism market has demonstrated robust development momentum. With the implementation of 12 measures to boost inbound tourism in Hunan, a total of 502,000 inbound and outbound trips have been handled at provincial ports during the first four months of this year, rising 13% year on year. Over 3,300 inbound and outbound flights were operated, up 10% compared to the same period of last year.
